Healthy Oats Cupcake
Who hasn’t enjoyed gorging on soft, gooey, melting in the mouths muffins in their school days and later too? If they say no to this question, it is an outright lie. Muffins have been an integral part of our growing up years. It was the most lovable sweet dessert that kids like to sink their teeth into. Easily available in school canteens and later in the best bakeries of the cities, muffins enjoy their cult following. Today, muffins have paved the way for cupcakes that are beautifully decorated to enhance their taste, flavour, and appeal. If you love baking in your spare time, you will come across loads of muffin recipes that will tempt you to try it out and make something amazing for your friends and family. Before embarking on your mission to whip up delectable muffins and cupcakes, it is important to know a few things about baking and avoiding common mistakes.
Mistakes to Avoid When Trying out Muffin Recipes
Whether there is a special occasion in your home or you wish to treat your family with sweet little goodies, it is imperative to get your baking basics right to whip up delectable muffins. Here are a few mistakes that should be avoided. It will help you bake an amazing batch. So, get set ready and preheat your oven.
Follow The Recipe to the T
If you think this is quite obvious and why it is even considered one of the baking tips to consider, many people actually substitute ingredients in a baking recipe with what they have available in their kitchens. They go as far as subbing out eggs in the recipe with something else, use liquid sweetener instead of sugar, use all-purpose flour instead of cake flour, add baking soda instead of baking powder, and so on. Well, when baking egg muffins, if there are no eggs in it, it would not come out to what you had envisioned. Thus, avoid sabotaging a good recipe unless you are a professional baker and know what you are doing. It will result in your time, money, and effort going down the drain. Follow the recipe properly so that it comes out well. Make alterations in it only after baking a few times and knowing about what you are doing.
Keep The Ingredients at Room Temperature
When getting the ingredients of the muffin recipe ready to be used, ensure that these are kept at room temperature. There is a logical and legitimate reason behind this tip. Failing to do so will result in your recipe not turning out the way you expected it to be. So, when you are all set to bake banana muffins, ensure all the ingredients you will add to it are at room temperature. It is important to ensure room temperature when getting ready to make a banana muffin recipe because, at room temperature, ingredients like butter, eggs, and other dairy products form an emulsion trapping air. When the banana muffins are baked in the oven, the trapped air expands and makes these muffins softer and fluffier.
Avoid Over or Under Mixing
Another mistake is that many bakers fail to avoid it over or under mixing in their zeal to bring out the banana muffin recipe perfectly. It is important to strike a perfect balance when mixing the ingredients. It should be neither too little nor too much. Here, beginners must note that mixing is done to ensure that dry and wet ingredients are mixed well and properly combined. When going overboard with mixing results in tough-textured baked goodies. Irrespective of what you are planning to make, chocolate mug cake or a banana cake, it is important to keep this tip in mind. Moreover, overmixing of batter also results in the over-developing of gluten which is not good for health. Such baked goodies will come up as dense-textured, squat-looking cupcakes. The batter must be mixed such that there are no longer flour pockets and lumps.
Use premium-quality cake liners.
When baking chocochip cookies or chocolate brownies, ensure using high-quality cupcake liners. It seems to be a very small tip, but it can make a sea of difference for the bakers trying to bake a good batch. Use grease-proof, quality liners as it will help avoid sticking baked goods at the side of the wrapper. There will be no longer oozed grease on the liners. Go for parchment paper liners or any other quality that specifically says “grease-proof.” Using this liner, your chocolate cupcake will come out nicely.
Fill cupcake pans properly.
The next tip that will help you a lot in your baking endeavours is filling the cupcake pans properly. Many times, this fact is overlooked, and the batter is scooped and poured inappropriately. It is important to fill the pans properly in the wrappers so that it bakes well. Under filling or overfilling, the liners will result in overflowing, mushroom tops on the cupcake, and cupcakes or muffins rising up and then sinking. The right way of doing it is filling the pan 2/3rd full so that there is enough space for the muffins to rise. You can also watch how to make muffins when planning to bake a batch of banana cupcakes or muffins. Use an ice cream scoop to fill the pan properly.
Use Oven Thermometer
If you do not have a regularly calibrated oven or a recently purchased oven, it may give you an inaccurate temperature. It is very important that the oven temperature inside is what you have set and nothing higher or lower than that. Even if it is off by ten degrees, your baked treats may not come out as you expected. You may end up with burnt cupcakes, uneven cakes, or dried-out goodies. It may be undercooked in the centre but otherwise heavily browned. It is recommended to ensure the oven temperature accuracy before you set out making a fresh batch of banana oat muffins. Go for an oven thermometer which you can place in the oven to measure the actual temperature.
One Batch at a Time
Another tip that can work well for you is to bake one batch at a time. If you watch how to make muffins at home, you will see how bakers bake one batch at a time. It is because it helps them to get the best results. Thus, when making banana oat muffins or oat muffins at home, ensure getting a batch of batter ready to be baked. Moreover, keep rotating cupcake pans from the bottom rack to the top or vice-versa a couple of times to ensure the baked goods are evenly browned. Turn the pans also so that there is even baking all over. These tips will help you bake a perfect batch of muffins at home.
